Parkinson's Disease Treatment Options

Deep brain stimulation (DBS): This is a surgical procedure in which electrodes are implanted in the brain and connected to a small device implanted under the skin. The device sends electrical impulses to the brain to help control tremors and other symptoms.

Research studies have shown that DBS can be an effective treatment option for PD patients who experience motor fluctuations and dyskinesias, even when other medications have become less effective. DBS can help reduce tremors, rigidity, and other motor symptoms and improve some PD patients' quality of life.
